Mooncakes were originally used to worship the goddess of the moon, and eating moon cakes in the Mid-Autumn Festival is a tradition started from the Yuan Dynasty.
In the last year of the Yuan Dynasty, the Han Chinese people hid a note that says kill the Mongolians on lunar calendar 15th August in the moon cake. Finally, they defeated the Mongolians.
Afterwards, in the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, the emperor used "moon cakes", which secretly conveyed information when starting soldiers, as the seasonal cakes and rewards to the courtiers to make all the soldiers enjoy with the people. Since then, the production of "moon cakes" has become more elaborate and more varied. After that, the custom of eating moon cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival spread among the people.
