According to legend, there are three fairies who turned into three poor old people, begging for foxes, monkeys and rabbits. The foxes and monkeys took out food to help the old people, but only rabbits did not. Later, the rabbit told the old people: "You eat me." Jumping into the fire, the gods were greatly moved, so they sent the rabbit to the Guanghan Palace to become a jade rabbit. Later, the jade rabbit was accompanied by Chang'e in the Guanghan Palace and made the elixir of immortality.
